Transition Year is offered to students following the Junior Cert. Independent studies show that Transition Year benefits studetns immensely. Students mature before making the critical subject choices necessary for Leaving Cert.
The extra year spent in Transition Year allows freedom to develop previously untapped talents. It allows students participate to a greater degree than before in extra curricular activities e.g. mini company and community related activities. In a structured way it gives many their first experience of the workplace. It encourages studetns to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.
In short, T.Y. promotes maturity, independent research and learning, initiative, teamwork adn the extension of the learning environment beyond the classroom.
