Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme.
The L.C.V.P is a Leaving Certificate with a strong vocational aspect. It consists of Leaving Certificate subjects together with two short courses called link modules and involves approximately 80% of senior students. It is devised to enhance participants' Leaving Certificates by giving the examination a strong vocational dimension.
The subject groups put Leaving Certificate subjects which compliment each other into groupings as follows :
Students take at least five Leaving Certificate subjects, two of which must be chosen from the list of subject groups. They also study Irish and a modern European language.
The link modules are activity-based and are designed to give students the chance to apply what they are learning to real life situations. Work experience and career investigation are important components of the L.C.V.P programme.
Students acquire a high level of computer competence and a variety of useful lifeskills. Assessment is based on the presentation of a portfolio of coursework and on the results of a formal written examination in the second year of the programme.
