Scoil Muire agus Padraig

Scoil Muire & Padraig is part of the Home School Community
Liaison scheme. HSCL aims to help parents avail of the best education
opportunities for their son/daughter. Scoil Muire & Padraig has a full-time
Home School Liaison co-ordinator, Sr Mary, who works in partnership
with parents to support them in the education of their children. The
purpose of the partnership is to enhance student's learning
opportunities and to promote their retention at school.
The goals of the HSCL scheme are:
" Supporting marginalised pupils
" Promoting co-operation between home, school and community
" Empowering parents in the educational process
" Retaining young people in education
The Home School Co-ordinator meets informally with parents at home and/or
at school. Parents have the opportunity to become involved in school activities,
while developing their own skills and leadership potential. The Co-ordinator
liaises with voluntary and statutory agencies in the community to minimise
educational disadvantage and to direct parents for appropriate help. The
Co-ordinator works with primary schools in the catchments area to ease the
student's transition from Primary to Secondary school.
The development and building of positive, trusting relationships with families
is seen as cornerstone of the Home School Community Liaison scheme.
