Scoil Muire agus Padraig

Twenty one hopeful athletes set off from Scoil Muire agus Padraig Swinford on a cold frosty January morning to compete in the North Connaught Schools Cross-Country competitions in Sligo. All competitors gave of their best in the harsh conditions ans the following qualified for the Connaught Schools Finals in Galway on February 8th.

Aisling Forkan(Second Year) came home in 1st place in the Junior Girls just ahead of her friend and clubmate Orla McCann also Second Year in 2nd place.

Michaela Walsh and Anna Tierney (First Year) finished 6th and 9th respectively in the Minor girls.

Aoife McCann finished in 4th place in the Intermediate Girls 2500 metres

Tadhg McGinty (Second Year) finished in 1st place in the Junior Boys and Christopher O'Sullivan (Second Year) came 2nd in the Minor Boys.

The Junior Girls Team of Aisling Forkan, Orla McCann, Ciara Dunleavy, Ciara Joyce and Orlaith Lynskey also qualified for Galway.

Well done to all and congratulations to those students who qualified for the Connaught Schools Cross-Country in Galway in February.
