Congratulations to the Swinford U-16 Gaelic football team who were crowned County A Champions on Friday 27th August in McHale Park, Castlebar. They defeated Ballina by a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-07.
Michael Walsh scored Swinfords goal on the evening with a brilliant shot into the top corner of the net. Swinford have enthusiastic goalkeeper Darragh Campbell to thank for a man of the match display pulling off two top class saves - one coming from a Ballina penalty. In what was a nervy encounter Swinford sealed the win with an expertly taken long range Kieran Peyton point in injury time. The cup was then presented to Swinford Captain Michael Prendergast which sparked jubilant scenes of joy from Swinfords faithful supporters.
